Saint Emilion UNESCO

Saint Emilion is a french village of the Gironde, Aquitaine, classified pratimoine of Humanity  by UNESCO. This commune consists of 8 municipalities:

Saint Emilion, Saint Christophe des Bardes, Saint Etienne de Lisse, Saint Hippolyte, Saint Laurent des Combes, Saint Pey d'Armens, Saint Sulpice de Faleyrens, Vignonet.

  • The Tour du Roy is a dungeon citadel built in 1237 on the orders of Henry III, King of England and Duke of Aquitaine. It is the only Romanesque tower in Gironde.It has 2 floors on the top of an underground chamber wich allows access and overlook on the medieval city. This dungeon hosted the city hall until 1608. From the top of that tower the Jurade proclaims the 3rd of June the "Judgement" new wine and the 3rd of September the Start of the Wine Harvest ("Le ban des Vendanges")
